SUMMIT POSTPONED UNTIL JULY 2021
We face extraordinary challenges in an increasingly complex world. The climate emergency, ecological collapse, rising social and economic inequality, political disruption and growing conflict suggest that democracy is in a profound state of crisis. The Second Summit on Education for Democracy: Research, Policy, Practice and Activism asks in what ways education can be re-imagined to address the complex challenges of our contemporary times.
The Second Summit on Education for Democracy is the follow-up event to the Re-imagining Education for Democracy Summit, which was held at the University of Southern Queensland Springfield Campus in November 2017.
Second Summit on Education for Democracy: Research, Policy, Practice and Activism
July 2021 (dates tbc)
University of Southern Queensland | Ipswich | Queensland | Australia
The Second Summit on Education for Democracy will bring together educators, researchers, policy-makers, students, parents, union representatives and activists to share, collaborate and take collective action. The summit will have a focus on ‘active’ sessions in addition to research papers, including debates, workshops, forums and panels.
The summit will involve a diverse group of people who share a collective commitment to more democratic modes of education.
The three-day summit will include provocations, conversations and actions to address issues regarding democratic education, public schooling, equity and access for all young people, civic participation and the purposes of formal education in contemporary societies.
We welcome submissions of a wide variety, including traditional research papers and symposiums, workshops, seminars, Q&A, panel discussions, dialogues and more non-traditional sessions, such as performances and installations.
The call for proposals will be released later in 2020. Please contact us on email@example.com if you have any questions.
